HOW TO USE/CONNECT CUSTOM DOMAIN WITH YOUR BLOG(blogger)

When you create a Fresh Blog from Blogger(Blogspot) you will get a domain name with .blogspot.com extension. This is called a Free domain that you will get for free from Google. A custom domain have a .com extension. (eg: bimarshakhanal.com.np). In order to use the custom mdomain you must buy it first. In some countries the country level domain are available free (for eg. .com.np is free in Nepal if you register using your Citizenship)

After you buy you custom domain name you need to follow some step before the domain you bought leads to your blog. This article will help you to setup the Custom domain with your Blogspot Website/Blog.

  For this task you need the following things.
   * An active blog (in blogspot)
   * a custom domain subscription
   * a CDN (Content Delivery Network) eg: Google CDN, Cloudfare, CDN, etc

Now follow these steps to connect your blogger Blog with custom domain.

1. Get a Custom Domain First and 
   In order to use a custom domain you need to buy a custom domain. You can buy it from the domain name providers like Godaddy.com, namecheap.com, etc. You can get the basic package for almost no more than $15/year. You need to think before you buy a custom domain regarding the name. I recommend you to use short and sweet domain name that best describe your blog/website. In some countries Countrylevel domain are available for free using your National ID [eg: example.com.np (In Nepal), example.com.in (In India)]. For avaibility of country level custom domain in your country.

While setting up custom domain you will be asked to enter Nameservers (Primary and Secondary Nameservers). For this goto second Step.

2. Create cloudfare account and setup it to connect your blog and custom domain
  Now, you need to web hosting service to connect the custom domain you bought/got with blogger. I recommend you to choose Cloudfare. It include both free and premium features. For the bloggers free account is sufficient.  So visit https://www.cloudflare.com/ and create a new account. Now cloudfare will give two nameservers to you. Now copy these two address and paste where you are asked to enter while registering custom domain in first step.( Note:The nameservers are same for all.for certain Web Host service)

Following to are the nameservers for  Cloudfare (You can use any one as Primary and secondary nameservers.)
1. ivy.ns.cloudflare.com 
2. peyton.ns.cloudflare.com
Now add your new custom domain without prefix (eg. example.com not www.example.com or http://example.com).  Now, go to your blogger account.

3. Get the detail information of your Blog
   Now, Under Setting> Basic> Publishing click on edit. Then choose Use Third Party Domain (custom domain) and there enter the new domain you get. Click on save. You may get some error message. But don't worry follow these instructions.
 Now you have to copy different DNS settings of your file and enter them in the respective field under DNS settings (Zone setting) in the Web Host settings

Beside enter those two value as CNAME. These two values are unique for every Blog.  Now you need to enter four A value to pint to Google domain (Blogger Domain). These four A value are common for all bloggers users.

Add four A-records which point to Google IPs.
  • 216.239.32.21
  • 216.239.34.21
  • 216.239.36.21
  • 216.239.38.21

. If you are Using Cloudfare it supports Zone File Uploading. So you can download DNS Settings File and Upload to cloudfare.

After Updating these DNS settings information your DNS settings should look somehow like this.

Now you are finally done. Now in the Blogger setting you can save the Custom domain without any error message.
